Best Running Routes Along the Danforth & East York

If you live near Danforth Avenue or in East York, you’ve got options. Good ones. Here are some of the best local running routes (tested by us!)

1. Taylor Creek Park Trail

This is an East End favourite for a reason.

The Taylor Creek Park trail runs through trees, away from traffic, and gives you that “I’m not in the city anymore” feeling.

Why it works:

  • Paved, smooth trail (good for beginners)

  • Quiet enough that there are not too many over-the-shoulder checks

  • Slight hills to build strength without crushing you

  • Perfect if you’re getting back into running and don’t want an audience

2. Don Valley Trails (Lower Don Trail)

If you want something a bit more “choose your own adventure,” head to the Don Valley Trails.

There are multiple entry points, and you can adjust distance without overcommitting.

Why it works:

  • Mix of scenery—river, trees, bridges

  • Easy to shorten or extend your run

  • Run 15 minutes out. Turn around. Done. That’s a win

3. Danforth to Woodbine Loop

No trails, no problem.

Start along Danforth Avenue, head south down Woodbine, loop through quieter residential streets, and come back up.

Why it works:

  • Close to home (no travel time = fewer excuses)

  • Great for squeezing in a quick run

  • Coffee at the end if you time it right

  • This is your “I almost didn’t go, but I did” route

4. Stan Wadlow Park Loop

Right in the heart of East York, Stan Wadlow Park is simple, accessible, and underrated.

Why it works:

  • Loop format (no thinking required)

  • Good for intervals or run/walk

  • Family-friendly if you’ve got kids nearby

  • You can show up, do a few laps, and leave or extend it by jumping into Taylor Creek Park

Enjoy!
